Each year in the summer, UTCM makes a Request for Preliminary Proposals (RFPP) as a first step in the procurement process for projects to be awarded for the fiscal year. This year's RFPP opened Wednesday, August 4, 2010 and the deadline for submission of Preliminary Proposals is Monday, September 20, 2010.

Preliminary Proposals are reviewed and ranked by the UTCM Executive Committee and Advisory Board. Based on these rankings and other criteria, approximately 10-15 Formal Proposals will be invited on October 28, 2010 by the UTCM Executive Committee and Director. Formal Proposals are due November 22, 2010 and will be considered by the UTCM Executive Committee and Center Director. FY11 awards will be made approximately December 10, 2010.

How to Submit a Preliminary Proposal

The Request for Preliminary Proposals (RFPP) for FY11 includes background information on the UTCM, procedures for submitting a Preliminary Proposal, forms and helpful hints.

Preliminary Proposals (PPs) should be no more than two pages in length and will be used to determine which projects will be invited to submit a Formal Proposal in October. Preliminary Proposals must fit the UTCM theme, and may be for a research project, an education project or a technology transfer (T2) project.

Project Types

Research

Research projects must relate to one or more of the center's Research Focus Areas, and should include education and technology transfer (T2) components. For example, the education component of a research project could be meaningful student involvement, and the T2 component could be peer-reviewed publication or presentation at a conference.

Education

Education projects may include new course or program development. For more ideas, select "Education" from the menu at left.

Technology Transfer (T2)

T2 projects may include such activities as conference planning, professional development seminars, K-12 outreach or diversity initiatives. For more ideas, select "Technology Transfer" from the menu at left.

Lists of previously funded projects can be found at left under "Projects."

"Secrets to Success: How to Compete for UTCM Funding" Seminar: September 1, 2010
